I received this book as a gag gift for Christmas, and it still wore the partial remains of the sticker from the bookstore bargain bin. I know it was meant to be a joke because my dog is clearly no genius, but I guess the joke’s on me, because I read the whole thing. This same dog had to be rushed to the vet after eating Christmas lights off the tree this year, and whose stomach contents not only contained lights, sockets and wiring, but also rocks and feminine hygiene products. This book taught me a few things about my dog's intelligence though. It turns out she won’t be composing the next classical symphony; however, she does have the mental capacity to produce the next great social media platform.As you might expect from a novelty book like this, the tone and format are fairly juvenile and seem to target kids or new dog owners. It was mostly pretty dumb, which is usually how I like my reading material. I picked up a few interesting factoids, and it has some fun interactive exercises, so you can perform scientific experiments on your dog. If you're a first-time dog owner, it's probably worth searching the bargain bin for a copy.
